SOCIAL MEDIA AND BODY LANGUAGE:

As people spend more time interacting through their computers and social media programmes there is a risk that their skill in reading some aspects body language will decline. Equally, it’s reasonable to expect that the increase in the use of web-cams and media channels such as Skype will focus more attention on facial expressions as this is the part of the person we usually see on the computer screen.  Observation has shown that humans simply are not used to seeing a person’s expressions while communicating over long distances.  This means that speakers are more likely to reveal their true feelings through facial expressions that they don’t normally have to conceal when speaking on a phone.
